day 104: past, present and future

This is another shot I took at home, since I was still feeling like I had a cold. These little books are something between notebooks and diaries. I’ve been writing them for years now and there are always times when I don’t use them much, like now, and times when I scribble in them daily. They collect ideas, notes about things I’m working on or just my general musings when I have things to think about. It always helps me to verbalise the mess in my head which I generally don’t do when I’m thinking about things just like that.
These days I’m more and more enjoying the situation I’m in right now. At first it depressed me and I felt useless, since I don’t feel like I have a purpose right now, but the longer I think about it the more I’m starting to see it as a chance too. The other day I talked to my brother on skype and he asked me what it was that I had been wanting to do when I was still too busy. He’s right, I can just use the time I have now to do the things I have been wanting to do for the last few years. I was always so busy that I only focused on the things I had to do rather than to really make space to do the things I used to enjoy when I was still in school. Things like writing, drawing, reading or taking pictures. Maybe it would actually do me some good to just take some time off and do only those things. I think it would actually help me to figure out what I want to do next.

Beautiful journals can never be replaced by a keyboard, there is something special about putting pen to paper.

I agree with you, PC Photo. It actually also slows me down somewhat to write with pen and paper which makes it easier to calm the mind and find the right words. Pen and paper is no good for editing though, I’m too used to writing in a word processor. I always end up adding a sentence or two after finishing a post for example.

I seem to purchase journals and then never fill them up. Great photo composition. As the saying goes..”make hay while the sun shines”…you will have work (and no spare time) soon enough, I’m sure!
